The Volunteer Lawyers Service provides services to charities and non-profit organizations only. If you require one-on-one legal assistance for family, criminal, immigration, or any other area of law that the VLS does not cover, the following agencies may be able to assist you. Law Society of Alberta
The self-governing body for lawyers in the province of Alberta. The LSA's mandate is to regulate the legal profession in the public interest by: ensuring Albertans are served by lawyers who meet continued high standards; and, upholding the independence, integrity and honour of the legal profession.

Lawyer Referral Service
The Service is operated by the LSA to assist people in finding a lawyer who will provide them with the legal services they require. Callers receive the names of three lawyers who practice in the area of law related to their concern. The first half-hour of consultation is free of charge.

Legal Aid Alberta
Legal representation for persons whose income and assets and legal problem fit within Legal Aid guidelines. The Alberta Law Line provides legal information and resource referrals for all Albertans, and, summary legal advice for those who fit the financial guidelines.
