Eligibility Requirements

Are you an eligible organization?

In order to be eligible for these services your organization must:

• Be registered as a charity or be an organization whose mission is for charitable purposes as defined under the Income Tax Act. We also accept applications from non-profit societies as defined under the Societies Act.
• Demonstrate an inability to pay any amount for legal advice and services excluding acceptable disbursements.

PLEASE NOTE: Your organization does not have to be a registered charity to apply. The VLS can provide legal services to help your society or organization become a registered charity.
